HOW TO REGISTER:
STEP 1: Click the JOIN EVENT button at the end of this post. There are separate forms for the #MINIEPIC or #EPIC courses.
QUALIFICATION: We are no longer requiring a qualification for the EPIC distance event. Please note though that the EPIC distance event has 5000m+ of elevation gain and loss with technical climbing and descending. Please register based on your own personal skill and fitness level. We will strictly enforce all cut-offs.
STEP 2: Pay the corresponding registration fee for the event that you will join:
Pay via PayPal/Credit Card (We recommend using this option for faster hassle free transactions)
(an additional 4% is charged if you choose to pay via PayPal to account for PayPal transaction fees)
**Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable. Refund is not available in case of cancellation or postponement of the race due to fortuitous events or factors beyond the control of the race organizer.
STEP 3: Prepare a duly accomplished medical certificate AND signed waiver from the registration form to the event organiser certifying that you are healthy enough to join the Cordillera Challenge. bring your Waiver and Medical Certificate to the claiming of your race kits.

STEP 4: Claiming of Race Kits: TBA
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT: TO BE CHECKED PRIOR TO EVENT -non compliance will mean prevention from starting.
1. Spare tubes: 2 pieces
2. Tyre levers: 2 pieces
3. Chain tool: 1 piece
4. 1.5 liters of water each (bladder or corresponding amount in bottles)
6. Bike Pump/ CO2 Canister

**To be used for dire emergencies only. (A flat tyre, broken chain, broken derraileur or minor bicycle trouble do not classify as emergencies -emergencies are when you or someone else is physically incapacitated by an accident)
10. Food: 500 calories for MINI EPIC and 1000 calories for EPIC
11. BIKES: We recommend bicycles with a minimum of 80mm of suspension and 2.1 inch tyres. Downhill bikes will not be allowed on the course.
The Cordillera Challenge is a physically demanding event and participants should come to the event physically prepared for the rigours of the trail.
Everyone must understand very well that the Cordillera Challenge is a long distance mountain bike event with elevations exceeding 1500 to 2000m above sea level. Given the innate challenges such as physical and mental fatigue which are to be expected in doing a race of these distances and for no other reason but the safety and welfare of all those involved in the event, cyclists without the adequate entry requirements will not be allowed participation and without exception. Hereunder are some of the risks, but not only limited to such, involved in doing the events;
High Elevation 1500m and above
Long, steep climbs
Extended distance and time between aid stations
Severe weather, including heat, cold, rain, and
Exposure to potential for falls along ridge lines and
Any cyclist attempting these races must understand that these challenges exist and they must be prepared to make decisions for his or her own safety under uncertain conditions without any expectation of assistance due to the inaccesibility to any type of motor vehicle, remoteness of the race route and the distance between villages/households. While there is no guarantee that the biker is prepared for every eventuality, finishing a qualifying event gives some evidence of being prepared for the races. Additionally, it also improves the chances for a biker to finish the event.
In the case that riders will bail out from the course there will be designated extraction areas that riders will need to reach in order to be extracted from the course of the Cordillera Challenge.
For the EPIC distance there will be 2 extraction points.
For the MINI EPIC distance there will be 1 extraction point.
Riders are not allowed to commandeer any of the support vehicles unless there is a life threatening emergency.
Vehicles at the extraction points will only leave the area at a designated time and not anytime before.
** RIDERS WHO REQUEST TO BE EXTRACTED OUTSIDE THE EXTRACTION AREAS AND ARE NOT GRAVELY INJURED OR THEIR BIKES INOPERABLE WILL BE CHARGED AN EXTRACTION FEE
WATER AND AID STATIONS:
As with previous years we will be posting water and aid stations at critical points during the course of the ride. But riders are expected to still have enough fluids and food to get them through the intermediate sections of the course.
FIRST AID STATIONS:
First aid stations will be located at several critical points on the course and marshals will be standing by to assist riders for minor scrapes or injuries.
No littering of any kind is allowed within or outside the course of the CORDILLERA CHALLENGE. Any person caught littering will be immediately stopped and disqualified from the race. There will be designated trash drops at each aid station that the bikers can use to dispose of their waste.
**Respect the local population and culture you will be passing through, this is their home and we are all visitors in their mountains. A smile and a helping hand goes a long way.
**Help any competitor who needs assistance along the trail.
**Do not alter or vandalize any existing structures within the trail such as waiting sheds or natural items such as rocks and trees. Violation is subject to disqualification.
**No Smoking anywhere within the course.
PARKING: There will be a designated parking space beside the event venue. All vehicles must park at the designated parking space.
CUT OFF TIMES:
EPIC COURSE CUT OFF TIME: 13 hours with 1 intermediate Cut off at KM32 of 4 hours after gun start.
MINI EPIC COURSE CUT OFF TIME: 11 hours
What to expect: EPIC and Mini Epic Course:
1. 3000m-7000m of climbing
2. 3000m of descending
3. technical descents over loose soil
4. technical ascents
5. technical double track through the forest
6. steep trails with grades up to 45%
7. lots of rough roads
8. a few stream crossings
